Mahiru Konatsuki is Itsuki Yuge's cousin and childhood friend. After she was summoned alongside Itsuki to Granvania, she becomes the Virgo Star Maiden and a God's Gift.
Overview[]
Mahiru is a regular honor student in academics and sports. She has a cheerful personality and is caring for her friends, thus popular among both girls and boys at school. With Itsuki living with her for three years, the two made a childhood promise of getting married(to be with each other in Plus). But with Itsuki forgetting about it completely, Mahiru has given a bad attitude towards him thus focusing more on her popularity to avoid the latter.
Itsuki's childhood friend. She thought she was pregnant, but was teleported to Granvania and became the Virgo Star Maiden after spitting out the Impurity harboring inside her. The Star Maidens are normally chosen among the citizens of Granvania, so it's a mystery why she was summoned...
Appearance[]
Normal Clothes: Mahiru has dark brown hair and hazel eyes. It extends down to her shoulders and has long portions on the front sides of her head with more hair on her right side. She wears the academy uniform from her world, consisting of a school jacket, magenta tie; yellow shirt, skirt, and thigh long socks. She also has pink glasses visible from her school jacket pocket. In her art, she carries a pink bag with a small magenta and white Matryoshka attached to it.
Swimsuit: Mahiru wears a pink bikini with white dots. The strings of the top half and the top of the bottom half have a white trim extending from them. The strings holding both halves together are purple with the knots holding the pieces together between her breasts on the top half and on the left side of the bottom half.

This section is primarily about Mahiru's personality in Conception Plus: Maidens of the Twelve Stars.
Games[]
While having a cute appearance, Mahiru is a self-centered and shallow person as she concerns her image as the school idol to be of importance. To this extent, she distances herself from Itsuki despite relations. Upon their arrival to Granvania, she grows into a kinder person the more Itsuki bonds with her. She treats Itsuki coldly before and after they perform the ritual, but she slowly acts nicer towards him.
In Conception Plus: Maidens of the Twelve Stars, Mahiru's attitude has been altered to be more friendly and charming.[1]She isn't nearly as self-centered and cares less about her image. Though she initially keeps her distance from Itsuki, this was revealed to be due to her repenting for incidents she accidentally brought Itsuki into. She is friends with the other Star Maidens and is close to Narcisstes and her popularity remains at this academy as well. While the other Star Maidens often tease that she has a crush on Narcisstes, she refutes them at every opportunity. For a majority of the game, she has a neutral opinion of Itsuki. She regularly visits his room to wake him up and the two work together to solve the mysteries surrounding the academy. During their bonding events, she acts a little hostile towards Itsuki, especially when he forgot the promise they made and when he accidently caught her bathing. After he becomes more supportive and helpful towards Mahiru does she act nicer towards him. Only after Itsuki remembers the promise they made together and after they two reveal that they felt they were a burden to the other did the two manage to reconcile their relationship and grow it into something more. She is also highly competitive and hates losing. She also likes to playfully tease Itsuki and she becomes jealous of his relationships with the other Star Maidens, though she accepts this is something he has to do. Though not the smartest Star Maiden, Mahiru is an honor student and has the second best grades out of all of the Star Maidens.
Anime[]
In the Conception (anime), Mahiru acts more like her counterpart in Plus than in the original Conception game. Her bonding arc remains mostly intact, though the order of events has changed. Her and Itsuki's past hasn't put as big of a rift between them compared to the games. She has the closest bond to Itsuki out of the original 12 Star Maidens.

- According to the Conception visual fanbook,
- Mahiru's design originally could be modified similarly to Itsuki's, but that idea was also abandoned.
- Mahiru has glasses but never wears them. They were a leftover from some of her early designs and gave off the idea of someone who likes to study.
- An idea that allowed the player to choose if Mahiru wore her glasses was considered, but was ultimately scrapped.
